Monty J. Erickson started seismic surveying and permitting in 1966 for Ray Geophysical and then for Sheehan Exploration in 1972.  In the fall of 1977 Monty founded Erickson Contract Surveying, Inc. Since that time E.C.S., Inc. has grown from a single plane table survey crew to over 40 Realtime GPS survey crews.  We have successfully surveyed in excess of 250,000 2-D seismic line miles and over 3.25 million 3-D receiver and source points ranging from 1 square mile to 360 square miles in the Western and Central United States and Upstate New York.

E.C.S., Inc. also employs in house Registered Land Surveyors that are able to provide legal support on every issue of a survey that may arise, from property line encroachment, to the surveying of future oilwells and pipelines relative to the seismic data.  We also provide G.I.S. services to many of our clients while we are performing a seismic survey. 

E.C.S. Inc. full time personnel are Certified A.T.V. riders, certified in C.P.R., have completed the OSHA 10 Hour training course, and to reduce the risk of injury, all personnel wear hard hats, helmets, and fluorescent orange vests.  All E.C.S., Inc. employees are drug tested prior to employment and are subject to random and post accident drug testing.  All of E.C.S. Inc. survey crews are radio and cellular dispatched.

Our crews utilize the latest in GPS technology with the Leica Viva GS15 Dual Frequency On-the-Fly receivers in conjunction with the Leica Viva CS 15 terminals to run both static control for a prospect and Real Time Kinematic for the layout of a prospect.

E.C.S. Inc. uses GPSeismic to design, QC, and produce the final reports for a prospect.  We use AutoCad and ArcView for all mapping based GIS applications along with scanned USGS topo maps and/or digital orthophoto quadrangle maps as overlays.  All maps are generated on Canon plotters.
